Take care of yourself

Take care of yourself

Nov 1, 2017

Happy November!

I’m back to Toronto after my Strala Yoga training in Amsterdam. It’s been two incredible weeks of self care, exploration and play. So many breakthrough moments, I feel like everything is still simmering. Missing the girls from our training so much!

The first lesson I’ve learned is about taking care of myself. If you follow me on Instagram, I posted about being too used to pushing that I don’t know how to slow down. I’m so used to the storm that I don’t know how to navigate through the stillness. Relaxing on vacation comes easy to me. That’s my designated time to disconnect and focus on the present with no deadlines or anything looming. But now that I’m back, I feel anxious. Uneasy because there’s so many things that needs to be done! How can I just relax, read a book?

But reality is, if we’re not taking care of ourselves everything thing else falls apart. We might be able to accomplish a little but we end up hurting ourselves in the process, burning out and then having to make up extra time to recover.

So how can we take care of ourselves besides eating healthy? For me, it’s been adding mindfulness to my days. To journal, or just take long walks to help me clear my mind from the noise and hear myself. Maybe 30-45 min to read a book just because! Taking a bath, walking around, watching a movie. Adding something I love and that makes me happy. It changes everyday, I try to listen to my body and mind to tell me what I need and not be too hard about it!

Whatever we’re doing to treat ourselves, it’s important to not multitask.

So we can completely immerse ourselves in the moment. Maybe even have our phones on sleep mode for an hour. And make the most out of that self care time.

We all deserve to feel good! What are you doing to take care of yourself each day?

Your journey is inspiring me when I need it the most and I will be following you every part of the way.

Talking about multitasking, it is hard to unwire and give yourself the excuse to anymore. I’m in Langkawi, Malaysia right now, "trying" to spend some time with my little family. Yet my mind is always wired to the idea that I have emails to reply and work to do. In return, I am not doing work properly or fullying enjoying my vacation. Multitasking is really a pooper.

I will be looking forward to more of your soulful newsletters in the upcoming weeks.

    Have a wonderful day Jess.
    With Love,
    Vivian

Vivian, your words and support mean the world to me. <3
Malaysia sounds lovely! It’s so hard to disconnect because we’re so used to rushing and getting things done. It’s a terrible addiction. I hope you’re not working as much right now! Enjoy your sweet vacation.

Big hug from Toronto to you and your family. Miss you!
