What this joke taught me about taking chances

Mar 23, 2021

I read this joke when I was a kid and it still plays in the back of my head to this day.

A individual, let’s call him Isaac. Prays to God everyday and asks: “God please let me win the lottery” and he does that everyday so for 40+ years.

Until one day all fed up, he curses “God why didn’t you let me win the lottery? How come you never answered my prayers?”

In which God finally replies “Isaac, I’ve been waiting for you to buy a lottery ticket”

I’m not sure why it stuck with me so much, perhaps because I can relate to moments where I feel the pull towards a dream and find myself feeling defeated without having even taken the first step. Fear of failure, of not being the “best” or even good enough. And so many times I’ve let myself believe that.

But here’s the thing about alignment, it’s for your highest good.

When you’re not feeling aligned it’s actually a sign that there is something better for you. That perhaps you’ve outgrown your current place. That it’s time to expand somewhere else.

Just because you don’t know the exact how or what yet, it doesn’t mean you don’t have what it takes.

If you have the desire, the pull to try something out it’s because you have what it takes, within you. Something that you can nurture and grow.

It might be something you never even thought of before.

The first step into embracing that change?

Trust 🌱

Cultivate that inner trust.
Trust that you are worthy of your dreams and goals. You are worthy of success.

And it all starts with believing in yourself.

How can you cultivate more inner trust everyday?
