A space for the messy, beautiful process of coming home to ourselves

16 Gate of Skills

16 Gate of Skills

16 Gate of Skills

We’re currently tapped into 16 Gate of Skills, the energy of expression, mastery of skills through repetition.

The Gate of Skills, is the voice of “I experiment / identify or not”. It carries an enthusiasm as they lose themselves in their craft; achieving mastery in what they’re fascinated by.

From Spleen to Throat

Starting from the Spleen—the awareness center for instinct, intuition, fear & the immune system. 48 Gate of Depth is a deep instinctual awareness about potential logical solutions for the collective

It then reaches towards the Throat—the center for voice, expression, communication & action. Where 16 Gate of Skills, channels that intuitive depth + solutions and expresses them through a particular skill(s).

Together they create the 48-16 Channel of the Wavelength.

Gate 16 is here to achieve mastery through repetition. This is a logical yet highly creative energy. It’s an artistic, scientific approach as you hone your skills and verify the logical solutions offered by the 48.

But it’s important that you identify with your skill. You’re not here to master everything / anything just because you can or think you should. Make sure it’s something you feel compelled to explore + spend time doing. In fact, you might even find yourself skilled at having many skills!

Yet Gate 16 without the 48 might feel that their skills lack depth and grounding. The 16 look for the 48 to add depth and dimension to their skills.

Shadow Expressions

The Gate of Skills is here to experiment, to be courageous even if you might not know what the process or outcome is. Yet sometimes the pressure from others, your own expectations or even the fear along + shame of not getting something “right” the first time can hinder us from taking the very first step.

In the shadow expressions, this energy can feel paralyzing where you see the faults and allow perfectionist tendencies to stop yourself from ever starting. Reaching for depth and becoming addicted to systems, strategies, information and techniques but never acting on them.

“This is why experience is critical to this process of breaking free. It is not enough to daydream and plan how you might save the world — you have to actually begin the work.” —Richard Rudd

Collective Understanding Circuit

As part of the Collective Understanding Circuit, this energy is logical, future oriented and focused on creating, correcting patterns. This about sharing your observations, reflections with the collective.

Gate 16 and/or the 48-16 by itself is a projected energy, so recognition before sharing is important in order to be received by the right people.

If you have the 48-16 Channel of the Wavelength and the 58-18 Channel of Judgement active, then this whole stream becomes manifested. You have the ability to see what can be improved, what’s not working along with the depth and skills to master those solutions. Informing before you share with others can help remove resistance.

Shadows

  • Quitting before achieving mastery, expecting results right away
  • Jumping around between skills  without committing

  • Performance anxiety, never feeling ready toshare with others

Needs

  • 10,000+ hours (or a lot of repetition!), space to explore without pressure
  • A sense of play and enthusiasm for the process
  • Connecting your skills to a deeper “why”

Gifts

  • The ability to pick up new skills quickly
  • Refining a craft until it looks effortless
  • Bringing a “bridge” between talent and the public, a natural enthusiasm that inspires others

Lesson of Gate 16

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.”—Anais Nin

One of the lessons of the Gate of Skills is that you won’t know until you try. To achieve full mastery is to surrender to your craft. To experiment in order to actually see what works or what doesn’t.

Ra often describes this energy as when the dancer becomes the dance or when living one’s life becomes it’s own masterpiece. This is the courage to take action, to take the first step and see what opens up. This is trust in the process, surrendering to the beauty of your craft however it looks like.

Wisdom of the Gate of Skills

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them” —Walt Disney

The Wisdom of Gate 16 is that practice makes perfect. We don’t come into this world knowing how to do everything and that’s ok.

Notice what are you fascinated by, where do you get energized? What do you feel pulled to explore? What gets you into an almost hypnotic state when you’re in it? When you surrender to that curiosity, that fascination, that enthusiasm you tap into the potential to become highly versatile with a whole range of skills that is able to support the collective. Trust in that energetic cue.

You’re here to master your craft (or many). You might not know what the purpose is or what you’ll do with those skills but trust that when the time is right your Strategy & Authority will guide you.

Gate 16 Keynotes

Ways to Work with Gate 16

As the Sun moves through the 16 Gate of Skills, the collective focus shifts to our relationship with practice, talent, and mastery. This gate asks us to look at where we are willing to dedicate ourselves to a craft purely for the joy of the experiment, rather than the guarantees of the outcome.

Are you playing with life, or are you sitting on the sidelines because you’re afraid of looking like a beginner? Use the seasonal check-ins below to see how this transit is landing in your body.

Curious to know what season you might be in? Take the Deconditioning Audit Quiz here.

The Perpetual Student

  • The Experiment: Gate 16 loves to experiment with different skills, but the Perpetual Student often gets trapped in “intellectual gathering” without actual physical practice. (Which might be accentuated if you have a 1st line in your profile, or have the hanging 32, Gate of Continuity) You might be collecting certifications, tools, or modalities like trading cards, but avoiding the messy, repetitive trial-and-error of real-world application.

  • Practice: Pick one small skill or tool you’ve read about recently. Put the books away and actually practice it today for 20 minutes. Allow yourself to be clumsy, awkward, and imperfect. Move it out of your head and into your hands. Notice what you enjoy about this process!

The Cocoon

  • The Experiment: One of the shadows of Gate 16 is indifference, a “why bother?” kind of attitude/protective mechanism. If you are in the cocoon phase, you might be experiencing a deep creative burnout disguised as apathy. Your system is likely exhausted from trying to force enthusiasm or perform a skill for validation rather than genuine interest.

  • Practice: Give yourself total permission to be completely ‘unproductive’ this week. Do something creative that has zero commercial value, zero strategy, and will never be seen by anyone else. Doodle on a napkin, play an old video game, or fiddle with an instrument. Let your nervous system remember what play feels like without the pressure of performance.

The Lone Voyager

  • The Experiment: You are putting in the hours and building your unique style, but you might feel incredibly isolated because your specific blend of skills doesn’t fit into a conventional neat little box. You are building versatility, but the world around you might be pressuring you to “pick a lane” or do things the traditional way.
  • Practice: Reframe your “weird combination” of talents as your actual superpower. Write a list of your random, unrelated skills (e.g., human design, spreadsheets, and cooking). How do these seemingly mismatched pieces actually create a unique, unmistakable magic when you mix them together? Trust your unique recipe and keep refining it!

The Emerging Leader

  • The Experiment: You have the skills, cultivated your magic and you’ve put in the repetitions, but now Gate 16 demands true devotion to your mastery. Where are you still holding back your full enthusiasm or “watering down” your expertise because you’re waiting for external validation or a safety net? True mastery requires leaping into your creative expression with both feet.

  • Practice: Identify one area in your business, leadership, or art where you are still playing it safe or waiting for “permission” to go big. This week, share a perspective or launch an idea with absolute, unhinged enthusiasm. Let your genuine passion be the frequency that commands attention, not a polished marketing script.

Which season are you navigating currently? Remember Gate 16 thrives on dedication to the game. Stop worrying about the final score and just enjoy the practice 😉
